UV Printed Transparency, Blue Flagging Tape, Blue LED Flood Lights

Terrain Exhibitions re-purposes private spaces such as front yards, porches, or windows and turns them into public spaces to foster dialogue between neighbors and provide opportunities for artists and viewers alike to experience new perspectives. [VISIT TERRAIN]

This house is pretending to be a glacier. A melty one. But not really, it’s just blue flagging tape held in place with wooden dowels. There are also some blue lights at night. The house dreams of having a body made from ice, one that kind of glows glacier blue. Each morning, the LEDs fade, the dream ends. At night, another dream again. Check out the stickers on the windows too. You guessed it; they’re ice stickers. The printed ink disappears over time in the sunlight. The house thinks this might feel the same as melting. At some point, from now to the end, the strands of tape will probably tear and begin to flap in the wind. Close your eyes. The house wants you to imagine them as an Arctic Tern protecting her nest–buzzing and hovering–aiming for your head.
