Two-person exhibition with:
k.funmilayo aileru and Justin Levesque
Curated by: Edwige Charlot
This exhibition explores the myth-making of Mars and the Arctic. At the intersections of speculation, imaginary and reality, artists Justin Levesque and k.funmilayo aileru capture the parallel lineage of both red Mars and the blue Arctic. Each brings into focus the social, ecological and political detritus of the colonizer/settler/explorer of these terrains. The show was presented in three part: first - myth (propaganda), second - memory (erasure, past, echo) and third - projection (new futures, conjuring). Exhibition catalogue features poems by artist + organizer Justice Ameer Gaines.
